Public transport

Public transport may include trains, buses, ferries, taxis and even planes. The Queensland Government's TransLink website provides information on some forms of accessible transport in south-east Queensland. Some types of public transport are only available in major cities or sometimes are not accessible to all people. This section tells you how to find out what is available where you live.

Government policies

Public transport options are changing all the time, and you might want to see how this is happening and how Government policies and laws are causing some of these changes. For more information, go to the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport (2002).

This document indicates that by 31 December 2017 most public transport should be accessible. Before this date, it is reasonable to assume that access to public transport will gradually improve.

One of the good things about public transport is that it is usually an affordable and reliable way of getting around. Check out the links below for more information.
