A good place to live
All of these things are important. They can be the difference between feeling good about where you live or just living somewhere because that is where you happen to be. On the practical side, a good place to live is somewhere you can enter and leave independently, or with as little help as possible, and somewhere where you can do as much for yourself as you can. This may be a house or unit that you own or rent, a family home, a place you share with friends or family or with whomever you choose. If you are still in rehabilitation, you might not be ready right now but it's good to start thinking about where you want to live so you can start making arrangements. A useful resource for people with disabilities and their families is called A Home of My Own and was developed by the Queensland Disability Housing Coalition in 2005. Remember, everyone has different ideas about where they want to live. A ‘good place' for you might be the city, country, where you lived before, or a complete change. The choice is yours.
